Partnership to End Addiction

The Partnership to End Addiction is a national organization formed to help families that are impacted by addiction. It is the result of the merger of two pioneering and preeminent addiction-focused organizations — The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse and Partnership for Drug-Free Kids. The Partnership combines decades of groundbreaking research, advocacy and policy work with a compassion-driven approach to services that support families affected by addiction. The organization mobilizes families, policymakers, researchers and health care professionals to more effectively address addiction systemically on a national scale.

The Partnership focuses on those who are concerned about a loved one’s substance use. They are open to parents, guardians, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, caregiver, or anyone else wanting to help a teen or young adult towards recovery.

The Partnership has helpline specialists available to answer questions and provide support in both English and Spanish. They also offer a phenomenal free peer-to-peer parent coaching program that uses the CRAFT-based Invitation to Change model from the Center for Motivation and Change. Some additional resources the Partnership offers includes:

  • Help & Hope by Text: Personalized support and information provided by text message

  • Online support community: Regular online sessions held by trained specialists who share guidance on addressing substance use and related issues.

  • Network of advocates: Passionate supporters rallying for change, representing all 50 states.

The Partnership has recently added a Family Support Locator in conjunction with SAFE Project. The Family Support Locator helps families locate support and treatment for themselves and their loved ones. Supports found by this locator include, but are not limited to, CRAFT-based resources.

Their website, drugfree.org, is an additional great source of information for families wanting to learn more about addictive substances, their effects, and the skills and perspectives that we can practice to increase connection, encourage change, and take care of ourselves in the process.
