May 27, 2025 HFHPN Update
Video Gumbo is complete! Member-Only navigation has been revamped! And upcoming hopes for the website! Woot!!
Completed! HFHPN Video Gumbo
Initially suggested and created by Dr. Heather Fulton in early spring of 2024, this database will allow us to share with each other the fantastic resources that help illustrate the concepts inherent within CRAFT and CRAFT-based approaches. (Yes… Nail in the Head is already on there!) This has been a ongoing discussion within the Last Tuesday Consult group… and I’m so excited that Heather made it happen!!!!!
The name, “Video Gumbo” was pulled from the Motivational Interviewing community for a similar resource created by Sky Kershner, LPC, LCSW, the Assistant Professor in Psychiatry at WVU School of Medicine. Check out his website here, as well as a link to the original MI Video Gumbo.
And for our version….
What else is new?
I’ve redone the navigational structure for the Member-Only pages!
It used to be that you had a whole bunch of options available from the main navigation bar at the top of every page… but the problem was that you usually couldn’t immediately access the page you wanted as first you needed to log in, and then when you logged in it just dropped you into the Membership Overview instead of the page you had selected….which was confusing (and annoying).
So now it’s now been paired down to just a few options to get you through the front door. You’ll start at the Membership Overview page… where you would have started anyway. But now, once you are signed in, you can find the navigation menu for all the Member-Only Pages near the top of every Member-Only page.
Click on the “^ Member-Only Pages Menu” to reveal a dropdown list of all of the options available for HFHPN members!
I’m hoping this makes it easier to get around…. let me know what you think in the comments below!!
Anything else in on the back burner?
Here’s a few things I have my sights on:
Guest lectures by and for HFHPN members: Addiction psychiatrist Dr. Matthew Campbell is kindly offering his time and expertise to help our provider community! A survey was sent to the HFHPN community the week of May 19, 2025 to check in about potential topics. Keep your eyes open for further information!
Guest blog: I checked in with providers at the beginning of July 2024 to see how many of us might be interested in participating in a guest blog, and received many enthusiastic responses! Awesome! Now that I know you are interested, I need to create the support within the site to do that.
Una página web en español: There are a few groups, a resource or two, and several HFHPN email group providers who offer this work to Spanish-speaking family members. I want to pull these resources together into one page, in Spanish, to increase the access for these families.
SEO & Analytics work: I had a company help me with SEO in 2023, but they were rather expensive, I didn’t really see a change through time… and I kept finding mistakes they made over a year after. ☹️ I’ve been learning more as I go, but people have full time jobs doing this kind of work and I’ll likely need help.
Revamping the Membership structure: In the pursuit of being more flexible I also managed to be too confusing. I’ll need to pair things down a bit. I’m thinking of getting rid of the “Basic” option as not a lot of folk are using that one. Let me know your thoughts?
Step by step instructions for creating a Directory Profile: This isn’t the most intuitive system.. and it would be really nice to be able to offer a little more support!
Anything on this list that you have questions about or are interested in contributing to in some way? Let me know in the form below!
As always, thank you for your collaboration, patience, and support! 💙
Completed: Internal Member Database
Learn more about the Internal Member Database, going live early July
While the Provider Directory only includes members at the Active Level who met the criteria for and have created a Directory Profile, the Internal Member Database includes anyone at the First Year and Active Membership Level who are interested in and consented to being included. So if you are new to the work and want to connect with others, or are curious who else is working in your area, this is a great way to find folks!!
The Internal Member Database will only be accessible to those at the Active and First Year Levels and will not be open to the public.
I will run the report for all members who were interested in being included and post the updated results on a monthly(ish) basis. The information in the database is pulled from the information you entered into your Member Account.
Did you indicate that you weren’t sure if you wanted to be a part of the database when you signed up for your membership and now want to be included? Or perhaps you said that you wanted to be listed and have now changed your mind? No worries! Just log in to your member account and change your answer for the Internal Member Database Question on the first, “About” tab and the changes will be reflected in the next update. Need something fixed sooner than that? Let me know!
This first version of the Internal Member Database was posted July 8, 2024. Please let me know if you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns!
In Progress: “Video Gumbo” Resource
Learn more about Video Gumbo, going live towards end of July

I’d like to have our version of this fantastic resource up and running by the end of July. To make it operational I’ll need to link the pages and create a form for folks to be able to easily submit additional resources.
